Dear members,
On behalf of PGBF and our members I would like to welcome the
new German Consul General Mr. Hans-Joachim Kiderlen on his
posting to Karachi. He was previously posted as German
Ambassador to Tashkent and has been associated with the German
Foreign Service for many years. Since his arrival in the city he
has been very active and shown keen interest in promoting and
enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Germany. We value
his support and input to PGBF.
The first ever “Oktoberfest” – German Food Festival, on a large
scale, was organized by PGBF in cooperation with the Worldwide
Group, Lufthansa Pakistan GSA, Schenker CEI Logistics, Siemens
Pakistan, Hotel Avari Towers, Bayern International and Degussa
Pakistan Liaison Office on September 16th, 2006 at the Hotel
Avari Towers. A German music group “Die Lasterbacher Musikanten”
was specially flown in and performed during the event, an
authentic German menu was served to the guests prepared by the
Executive Chef at the Avari, Mr. Udo Gross. The event was
largely attended by PGBF members and members from the business
community.
A workshop on renewable energies organized by GTZ (German Agency
for technical cooperation) and the AEDB (Alternative Energy
Development Board) was organized on September 26th at the Hotel
Pearl Continental which three German firms attended. More
information on the matter can be viewed in our September/October
2006 newsletter issue.
The President and CEO Daimler Chrysler Middle East, Mr. Nicholas
J. Speeks, visited Karachi in the month of October and PGBF
arranged a meeting with local members of the press.
Our membership is continuously growing and we hope that we will
achieve to reach the “two hundred members” figure by the end of
the year. Your support in this endeavor will be vital.
