Dear Members and Friends of the Pakistan German Business Forum,

As the new German Ambassador to Pakistan it is my particular pleasure to extend my best wishes to the Pakistan German Business Forum, to its President, Mr. Razak Bengali, to the Members of the Board and to all Members of the Forum. As German Ambassador I will concentrate my work on further deepening the already excellent relations between our two countries. The economic and commercial relations are very important and actually in many aspects form the solid basis for building this relationship.

In the absence of a representation of the German International Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Pakistan the Forum is an indispensable instrument to foster Pakistan – German relations and has to play an imminent role in activating the commercial contacts.
The excellent state of the Pakistan – German relations was highlighted by several top-level visits to Pakistan – those of Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and of Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Joschka Fischer in 2004 as well as the visit of the Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in July 2005 in Germany. High-powered business delegations have furthermore led to many business contacts and will hopefully in the future lead to an even more prominent presentation of Pakistan’s business community at German trade fairs and to more German investments in Pakistan.

I am very pleased to note that the trade relations between Germany and Pakistan have improved considerably during the last year with a growth rate of more than 20 %.
Pakistan and its booming economy have become a known factor in interested business circles in Germany. Let us work together to further strengthen the economic and commercial co-operation between our two countries and contribute thus towards friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Germany.

I am convinced that the Pakistan German Business Forum will play an even more active and successful role in this context and I do wish to all its members personally and in their business further success!
